Computer Science |
Computer Science is basically the technology, which is at the very moment enabling you to browse the Internet and visit different sites, like ours and look for whatever you want. Whenever you are in front of the computer using the most common applications like typing, listening to music or searching on the Internet, computer programming is the core knowledge that is enabling the computer to perform what you command it to do. It requires a specific computer language.
|
Computer theory derives its concepts from mathematical theories and application of the same in computer systems. These theories have their foundations in complex mathematical calculations.

Brief History
Usage of the term Computer dates back to the beginning of the 20th century. It was used for the human clerks performing different calculations. These clerks were prone to make errors, just like any you and me. The thought of making calculations error-free motivated researchers like Alonzo Church, Alan Turin Alan Turing and Kurt Gödel to initiate an automated calculation process.
|
The 1940s saw the introduction of newer and advanced computing machines and computer technology. The term computer got a new meaning, replacing the human clerks for automated machines.

Gradually it was realized that computing knowledge can be used in a broader perspective, rather than sticking only to calculation-based works. Around the 1960s, this gave birth to a new and distinct academic field named Computer Science. Academic institutions started offering degree and diploma courses on scientific computing.

The different sub-fields related to Computing Science are:
|
Despite the name, Computer Science is something where you don't necessarily study computers themselves. Famous computer scientist Edsger Dijkstra often says, "Computer science is no more about computers than astronomy is about telescopes." There are a host of other fields related to the studies of Computer Science.
